On-Line Application Site
Moving-To-Work (MTW) Program

1) How long will it take for me to get a voucher?

HACSM is unable to determine the length of time it will take for you to get a voucher. As vouchers become available in the MTW program, names will be randomly selected from the pool of applicants for placement on the waiting list using a computerized lottery process. Be sure to visit this MTW Pre-Application Site at least once per year to keep your pre-application information up to date.

2) How often do you draw names from the waiting list?

HACSM is unable to determine how often names will be drawn from the MTW applicant pool. We will conduct lotteries only when vouchers are available through program turnovers. Vouchers become available when program participants leave the program. The number of participants leaving the program has been low and we are not able to predict when they will occur.

3) I’m homeless; do I get housing assistance faster?

We have a limited number of housing vouchers, and the demands for housing assistance far exceed the number of vouchers available. Because all of our vouchers are in use, the only time we may issue new vouchers will be when program participants leave the program. The number of participants leaving the program has been low and we are not able to predict when they will occur.

We encourage you to inquire about the wait list opening status for our other programs at www.smchousing.org or with other housing authorities in the Bay Area.

You may also perform a housing search for available affordable units on the newly established housing locator website: www.SMCHousingSearch.org. This is a national website where landlords willing to take both Section 8 and non-Section 8 clients list their available properties.
