Welcome to the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo’s
Moving-To-Work Program Online Pre-Application Site

The Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo (HACSM) is pleased to announce that we are now accepting pre-applications for our Moving-To-Work (MTW) program.

The MTW program is a federally-funded housing assistance program that provides rental subsidy (commonly known as Housing Choice Voucher or Section 8 program), allowing eligible families to rent housing in the private market by subsidizing a portion of each family’s monthly rent. In addition, the MTW program provides case management services, financial incentives and other supportive services to program participants.

In order to serve more families over time and to encourage client engagement with self-sufficiency activities, the MTW program has a five (5) year time limit. Elderly or disabled program participants may be considered for time limit extensions in accordance with the HACSM’s hardship policy.

When you submit your pre-application, you will be placed in a pool of applicants for the MTW program. Your pre-application will remain active for one (1) year. You may renew your application before the expiration date or re-apply any time after the expiration date. Please note: Only one pre-application may be submitted at a time. If duplicate pre-applications are discovered, the additional submissions will be deactivated and you could jeopardize your eligibility.

This pre-application site will remain open until further notice. Periodically, as vouchers become available in the MTW program, names will be randomly selected from the pool of applicants for placement on the waiting list using a computerized lottery process. If you are selected, HACSM will send an eligibility interview appointment letter to the mailing address on record.
